Keep Your Faith: This Storm Will Pass

All I hear hitting my window right now are the large raindrops that have been attacking Houston for the last month, unendingly.
I wouldn’t be an honest woman if I told you that this rain hasn't pushed me to my limits—and as inconvenient as it would be on my end, I would happily move momentarily to whichever city is able to escape this storm.

It sounds like a sure-fire way to escape the dreary clouds and puddles— moving for a short period of time until everything is over with. Maybe to Arizona or Nevada, where the weather always seems to be scorching and dry.

I could just pack a weeks worth of clothes, stuff some granola bars and one pair of sandals—basically living out of my suitcase while waiting out the storm until it has completely passed Houston altogether.

Sounds like a simple plan right?

Wrong.

Just as silly as this plan sounds, and unnecessary, it's even sillier and detrimental to our journey to escape God's plan when a storm cloud lingers over our lives.

We, as human beings, do NOT like storms. Not the physical storms with the wind, rain and freezing temperatures—but rather the storms that come with financial trouble, breakups and loss of motivation to achieve. We cringe at our emotions when they seem as dark as heavy rainclouds, and we do everything we can to escape our current situations when it seems like the sun is nowhere to be found.

Keep your faith when the 'rain clouds' come. They, too, shall pass Share on X

We will live out of a small box that we put ourselves in, cramming our potential into one suitcase—and starve our spirituality of its nutrients to survive as we head to a safe place that boasts an obstacle-free zone.

We place Jesus on pause, our discipline on standby, and our morals on lockdown just to rid our minds of any difficult storm procedures that, with extra effort, will help us to survive.

We do just about ANYTHING to escape the very thing we should be clinging to, which is our FAITH—once the rain begins to fall.

I’m sure many of you have heard about how diamonds are formed, but, if not, allow me to give you an extremely juvenile explanation.

It is said that many precious and natural diamonds are formed within the earth’s mantle, undergoing extreme temperatures and pressure. During ‘formation’ (come on diamonds now let's get in formation...) there usually are eruptions from surrounding volcanoes beneath the earth’s plates causing pieces of the mantle to tear apart—carrying them rapidly to the surface.

Sounds pretty peaceful, right?

Consider your life post-storm as a diamond that had to undergo extreme conditions and unsteady ground just to reach its full potential. That doesn’t sound like a journey convincing enough at first— if you only witnessed the beginning stages during your life’s ‘formation.’ But, I promise, staring into that gorgeous rock, once all is said and done, will be enough motivation to do it all over again.

I hope you see the connection, and I pray that if you are undergoing what feels like a hurricane destroying your positivity—that you have the strength to 'weather the storm' and continue to trust God's plan.

Escaping ‘until further notice’ will only land you further away from your purpose, and cause you to inconvenience yourself more than if you were to stay put and search internally for contentment.

You are strong enough, and your path, although currently obstructed by flooding and fallen branches, will soon be clear.

Have patience and, most importantly, HAVE FAITH.

Live Intentionally, my friends.
